Welcome Message

On behalf of the International Society for Chinese Medicine (ISCM), I am delighted to welcome you to the 2005 International Conference (April 1 to 3, 2005) and the Pre-conference Symposium on “Enhancing the Evidence of Evidence-Based Chinese Medicine” (March 31, 2005).

The theme of the 2005 Conference is “Chinese Medicine for the Prevention and Treatment of Contemporary Diseases: An Evidence-Based Approach”. Under this theme four topics will be addressed by national and international experts. They are:

  • Cardiovascular Diseases (co-organizer: China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine);
  • Liver Diseases (co-organizer: Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine);
  • Life-Style Related Diseases (co-organizer: Toyama Pharmaceutical and Medical University);
  • Pain (co-organizer: School of Medicine, University of Maryland).

At the opening ceremony of the Conference on April 1, we will concurrently hold the first ISCM Annual Meeting. We have invited the delegates of all founding institutions to join us on this joyous occasion.

You will be meeting many friends in the field of Chinese Medicine from all over the world on this occasion, and I am sure that you will enjoy your visit to Macao, a meeting place of East and West for over 400 hundred years.
